# Card Mandates

### **Overview**

Card Mandates is one of the user preferred options for automating repeat payments for SIPs, EMIs, insurance premiums, subscriptions, bill payments and wallet recharges.

### Card Mandate Registration

Card Mandate Registration is when a cardholder authorizes recurring transactions on a merchant platform using a debit or credit card. This authorization allows merchants to collect a predefined amount from the user at regular intervals until the mandate expires. The registration and first payment occur simultaneously.

### Card Mandate Execution

To collect recurring payments, registered card mandates must be executed. Following RBI guidelines, issuing banks send a Pre-Debit Notifications (PDNs) to customers 24 hours prior to mandate execution. Customers can revoke or pause mandates as needed. If active after 24 hours, the mandate is executed, and a predetermined amount is debited from the card.

### **Quick Queries**

## FAQs:

### Which brands support card mandates?

E-Mandates are supported on cards issued by all major networks such as VISA, Mastercard, Rupay and Amex.

### Will the card be stored when setting up mandates?

Saving a card through tokenization is a requirement for setting up a card mandate. In compliance with RBI guidelines, storing raw card details is prohibited. Therefore, all card details used for mandate setup will be tokenized by either Juspay or the Payment Gateway (PG).

### What is the maximum transaction amount supported for a card mandate?

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the limit for card e-mandate-based recurring transactions is ₹15,000 per transaction.

Transactions exceeding this amount require additional-factor authentication (AFA), wherein an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number of the cardholder. The cardholder must input this OTP to authenticate and approve the transaction successfully.

Please note that these limits are subject to change based on regulatory updates.
